Done In A Day

The Done in a Day committee presents short term projects in partnership with Community agencies such as the the ACHIEVE after-school program in Norwalk, the Lower Fairfield County Food Bank, the Norwalk Emergency Shelter, Malta House and Person-to-Person. Many of the events support the JLSN Building Healthy Families initiative as well as our focus on providing basic needs to low-income families in our area. Done in a Day projects also raise awareness of these issues in the community.

In September 2009, the DIAD Beach Clean Up Crew was not afraid to get their hands dirty, 20 JLSN members alongside several supporting children, spouses and community advocates scattered across Cummings Beach in Stamford on September 19 to clean up a very popular stretch of coastline in honor of the Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Clean Up, which was driven locally by Save the Sound.  The group of 28 gathered 118.5 pounds of litter from the beach area that day.  It was a tremendous effort and the Sound will be a better place because of their work.  Three cheers for the Clean Up Crew!

In 2008, JLSN coordinated the One Warm Coat program, collecting winter outerwear donations throughout our service area. The League also continued its longtime participation in the annual International Coastal Cleanup and the Angel Tree project to donate and wrap holiday gifts for participants in the Nurturing Families Network program of Family Centers, Inc.
