Greetings from Angelica Oxford
Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk 2010-2011 President
Thank you for visiting the Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk (JLSN) website!
The Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk is an organization of over 400 members whose Mission is to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women and to improve the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Our Mission makes us unique in that we provide training in leadership and organizational development skills, community outreach, strategic planning, advocacy, and fund development. The Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk trains community leaders! Many of our members serve on other non-profit Boards. We are indeed “women building better communities.”
We are a member of the Association of Junior Leagues, International (AJLI), www.ajli.org, a non-profit organization comprised of 292 Junior Leagues, representing 170,000 members in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the United Kingdom .
Since 1923, JLSN has played a key role in the community by identifying critical community needs, then developing and implementing programs that effect positive change. We have partnered with many organizations throughout the years and several of our programs continue to operate as self-standing entities today. I encourage you to browse through our website and learn more about JLSN.
Through our fundraising efforts and generous contributions we are able to fulfill our Mission of providing community programs to our service area. We are the grateful recipients of grants from many Community Foundations, as well as donations to our Annual Appeal. Our fundraisers include the Winterfair Holiday Gift Market, now in its 32nd year, our Spring Spirits! wine tasting and silent auction and other fundraising events throughout the year. JLSN welcomes donations and gifts in memory and honorariums to support the work of our volunteers.
Membership in JLSN means being part of a talented, diverse group of women who value the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the world around them while developing their own leadership potential. If you know of an outstanding woman and dedicated volunteer who would be interested in becoming part of this exceptional group, please contact us. JLSN reaches out to all women at least 21 years of age who demonstrate an interest and commitment to voluntarism.Thank you for all that you do to make this organization a success.
Sincerely,
Angelica Oxford
