Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk

member requirements

JLSN reaches out to women age 21 and older, of all races, religions, and national origins who demonstrate an interest in, and a commitment to, voluntarism. In addition, the Junior League provides opportunities for women to develop skills that will allow them to be effective volunteers and to take action in their communities.

JLSN has three Member Status levels:

Provisional
Provisional Members are new members of JLSN who are in the process of completing the Provisional Course. Please see the Become a Member page for more information on Provisional Requirements.

Active
Active members are the heart of our volunteer efforts. Each Active member will serve on a committee, which is called her Placement. In addition to participating in her committee’s projects and events, Active members are required to:

* Complete a total of 12 credits each year (earned by attending a training program or by volunteering at a community or fundraising event other than your current placement)

* Pay annual dues of $179, which includes $35 for AJLI dues and $45 for the purchase of Winterfair tickets.

Actives who have served two or more years are eligible for Associate Active status, which requires only a Placement or 12 credits, but not both. Actives who have served eight or more years are eligible for Active Gold Status with reduced credit requirements. Dues are the same for all Active statuses. An Active may request a leave of absence if circumstances require, but this time will not count toward her overall years of service.

Sustaining
Sustaining members of JLSN must have been active members of a Junior League for eight full years. Dues for Sustainers vary by age of the member. Sustainers have no meeting or placement requirements, but can participate in many fun programs, events and activities.
